Kira Stell joined the staff of the McHenry County Historical Society in January 2012. She replaced the Society museum’s longtime exhibit curator, Grace Moline, who retired.
Kira, a graduate of Crystal Lake's Prairie Ridge High School, came to the museum from the Byron Museum of History in Byron, Ill. where she served as executive director. As Exhibit/Collection Curator, Kira's responsibilities include exhibit development and installation, collection management, on-hands management of volunteers and interns, interpretative program development and fabricating and installing temporary exhibits in the society’s traveling museum called “The James.” She also crafts changing exhibits in the McHenry County Government Center, Woodstock Opera House and various county libraries.
With past experience in volunteer recruitment programs, school tour education and special event coordination; and her work with collections and exhibits, this Crystal Lake resident brings a wealth of experience and positive energy to her job.
