The McHenry County Historical Society has a wide array of volunteer opportunities available for those who are interested.

Museum Hours

Our Museum Season is May through December. Hours: 1 to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, including the third Saturday each month during the season.

Admission is free to members; $5 for adults and $3 for students and seniors.

Research Library Hours

The library hours are 9 a.m to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday year round. An Appointment is required at least 24 hours in advance. Call 815-923-2267 for more information, and to schedule an appointment.

Society Office Hours

The Historical Society office is open year round, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Holiday Hours

The Museum and Offices are closed New Year's Eve, New Year's Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and "Black Friday," Christmas Eve and Christmas.

• Fare for general public riders: $4.50 each way. Fare for seniors (60+) and individuals with disabilities: ~$3.00 each way

 From the Crystal Lake Metra Station to the McHenry County Historical Museum

• Distance: 15 miles
• Fare for general public riders: $5.50 each way. Fare for seniors (60+) and individuals with disabilities: $4.00 each way
