Position:
Volunteer & Outreach Coordinator

Karolina Kowalczyk joined the McHenry County Historical Society in February 2020. Her favorite parts about history are individuals' stories and how we capture them and retell them to different generations - while using them as a tool for education and entertainment.

She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Illustration from the American Academy of Art in Chicago. Most of her career has been serving at non-for-profit organizations, such as After School Matters, a program she was involved in as a teenager and then later in life proudly worked at as a Program Specialist for many years.

Karolina spent five years at the Art Institute of Chicago were she coordinated public programs in the Department of Learning and Public Engagement. She loves animals, cooking, art and nature. Over the winter months she is a practicing and exhibiting artist while in the spring and summer she is a grower of organic vegetables.

She served as the store manager at All Grass Farms in West Dundee, IL before landing this position close to her home in Marengo.
