The monies raised from this race will go toward funding the Nancy Fike Scholarship. This scholarship, established in 2012, is for a high school senior who has an interest in history and education. It is a $1,000 scholarship and awarded at the McHenry County Historical Society’s annual meeting. This year's winner is Sophie Rogers from Woodstock High School. She plans on studying  political science and Spanish at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn.

We have supporters such as yourselves to thank for remaining a vibrant, vital organization after 53 years. People understand that we are not a bunch of blue-haired ladies sitting in some dusty room. We advocate for historical structures. We educate your children. We publish articles. We run a research library. We own and operate a historical museum, log cabin, an 1895 church and two, one-room schoolhouses. Key is a dedicated board and staff, some 300 volunteers, nearly 600 members and YOU.
