The History of Brick Architecture in Chicago will be presented by architecture photographer and researcher Will Quam. This virtual tour covers the exciting history of brick making and brick building in Chicago from 1830 to today. Follow the trends and fashions through Chicago's brick history: Rough, homegrown common bricks, crisp imported red bricks, wild terra cottas of the Roaring Twenties Miesian modern bricks and more. Discover the technology and architectural innovations that can be found across Chicagoland, including McHenry County, that are written into its brick. Quam will share photos of buildings and their details, as well as images from throughout McHenry County. Attendees must register in advance for this online-only program HERE  to receive the access code.

Quam is an architecture photographer, researcher, and the enthusiast behind Brick of Chicago. He has been called "Chicago's premiere brick expert" by Geoffrey Baer, and his photography and passion for Chicago's brick history have been featured on Block Club Chicago, WTTW, the Chicago Tribune, Masonry Magazine and more. His architecture tours were named one of Chicago's best tours by Curbed Chicago in 2020.
