Historical Landmark Bus Tour

Bus Back in Time

The McHenry County Historical Commission is hosting a relaxing bus tour on Oct. 14 of some of McHenry County's historical landmarks.
The tour begins at 9 a.m. from the Woodstock Opera House and will return at about 4 p.m.

The tour begins at Mount Auburn Cemetery in Harvard and the Frank and Louise Newman house. There, participants will enjoy a tour of the cemetery – including the chapel – and a presentation on the Newman House by “Mr. Newman.”

Other stops include the Powers-Walker House in Glacial Park, followed by the John James House, the Rudolph Hutchinson House, Greenwood School, and Holcombville School. In addition, guests will have an opportunity to view other sites and McHenry County scenic roads.

The cost is $20 each. A box lunch from Heavenly Ham will be provided for an additional $7. Reservations and payment in advance is required. Visit the McHenry County Department of Planning & Development at 667 Ware Road, Room 208, Woodstock or call 815-334-4560.
